I'm SHOCKED!

I know I shouldn't be, but I am.

I spent years researching, writing and developing, then piloting the Preschool Readers accelerated program.  Yet, at times, I’m still shocked by how quickly children can learn to read when taught using this program...

Let me tell you about a very special preschooler named, Timmy.

At Timmy's initial consultation his parents asked if I could work with him twice a week instead of the usual once a week.  They wanted to really speed things up to make sure he was fully ready for kindergarten.

The Preschool Readers accelerated program is an in-home instructional program.  This 24 session program consists of once a week, 30 minute, sessions.

Let me break down Timmy’s accelerated, accelerated program for you:

-his 24 weeks turned into 12 weeks (twice a week instead of once a week).

-12 weeks equals three months.

-three months of twice a week 30 minute sessions = 12 hours.

SO... within three months and 12 hours of in person instruction...Timmy finished phase one reading on a…

mid first grade reading level!

Timmy’s final assessment shows he is able to read 64 of the 66 sight words he was taught and gained knowledge of all letter sounds!

Check out his results below!

Below is a guided reading leveled chart which shows what grade each leveled book is equivalent to...Timmy is reading level E books and you’ll notice level E is a  mid first grade reading level!

I am BEYOND proud of Timmy... and he is proud too!

But here is the crazy thing... SO many of the little guys I work with end the program reading on either a beginning or mid first grade level...he is not the exception!

The reason Timmy’s results seemed to SHOCK me was because I had never actually accelerated my accelerated program.  I did not realize that in only 12 weeks of instruction I could have a preschooler reading on a mid first grade reading level.

However, as I mentioned earlier, I really should not be so surprised…

Preschoolers are HARDWIRED to learn!

Their brains are actually hardwired to learn and the younger the brain, the more malleable it is.  This is why young children are like sponges and learning to read as a preschooler is as natural and effortless as learning to speak one’s native language (check out this fun visual)!

The early years lay the neurological foundation for intellectual growth into adolescence and adulthood

If you’re ready to activate your child’s natural desire to learn, and have them reading on at least a beginning first grade reading level then  contact Preschool Readers and get your child started today!

If your child is not yet ready for the program and between the ages of 2-5 then our Literacy Book Bags are a great way to prepare your child for future participation in the program as each book bag incorporates pre reading skills!

Happy reading,
