Many parents have expressed to me that they are not sure what is expected, in the area of reading, from their preschooler or kindergartner. They wonder what their child really needs to know at this age or what their child should be demonstrating.
So, I’m here to help!
Educational standards (learning goals) are what students should know and be able to do at each grade level and these standards are actually the SAME in 43 states! They are called Common Core and they are a set of clear standards for kindergarten through 12th grade in language arts and mathematics.
I wanted to provide you with the kindergarten reading standards as I know you'll find this information helpful. Click HERE to get your FREE copy of the standards now. I suggest printing them out and keeping them handy (you can use these with your preschooler as well)!
