Got summer plans?

Summer is almost here!! Beach days, sun tans, ice cream, vacations, fireworks… how fun!

Oh wait, this Jersey girl now lives in Florida...  this is my entire year ;)

I’m sure many of you have wonderful plans for at least a couple of weeks during the summer.  But then it’s back to work for the parents and summer camp for the kids.

There are always a variety of exciting camps for the kids to attend.  From zoo and aquarium camps, to technology, sleep away, performing arts, and sports camps…

And although Preschool Readers doesn't offer a summer reading camp yet (stay tuned...Preschool Readers camp coming summer 2016), we would like to remind you that we are around all summer and we come to the home (how convenient is that)?

We know the importance of summer reading… during this three month break children can lose much educational ground particularly when it comes to reading.  So we’re here to make it easy for you!

The Preschool Readers Accelerated Program is for YOU if…

  • Your child is between the ages of 3-6.
  • Your child is starting kindergarten in the fall (why not give them an educational advantage)?
  • Your child just finished kindergarten and you want to know that you are doing all you can to ensure that this summer they do not lose any of the knowledge gained during the previous school year.
  • You want to feel secure in knowing that you are instilling a love of learning and reading in your child.
  • You know your child is ready to read but you just don’t know where to begin.

Summer slide affects millions of children each year but it doesn't have to.  Schedule your assessment now and follow us on Facebook for ways to help keep learning fun over the summer!

Happy reading,
Preschool Reading Specialist & Owner, Preschool Readers

P.S Preschool Readers is now open for enrollment in the following areas of New Jersey: Little Silver, Rumson, Navesink, West Long Branch, Oceanport and Ocean.

Meet Lauren...

the newest member of our Preschool Readers team!
(for even more exciting news be sure to read this newsletter in its entirety)
I’m excited to announce that Lauren Bentz is now one of our Tampa preschool reading specialists!

Lauren is an enthusiastic and passionate teacher with Hillsborough County School District. She has served as a teacher with the county for the past five years.  Lauren received her Bachelor's in Education from the University of Tampa in 2009 and is currently back at UT working on her Masters in Curriculum and Development (due to finish this summer).  Aside from school, Lauren is active in the Tampa Bay community.  She serves as a volunteer on the University of Tampa's National Alumni Board and is an active member with The Junior League of Tampa.

Fun Q & A with Lauren:

Q: When you were a child, what story did you love to read (or have read to you)?
A: Roxaboxen by Alice McLerran

Q: Now that you are an adult, what children’s book do you like and feel all kids should have on their bookshelf?
A: The "Fletcher" books: Fletcher and the Falling Leaves, Fletcher and the Springtime Blossoms, and Fletcher and the Snowflake Christmas

Q: Why do you love reading?
A: Reading takes me away to amazing or magical places I've never been to meet extraordinary people I would never meet on a normal day.

Q: What is one word you would use to describe yourself as a preschooler?
A: Imaginative

Q: Who was your favorite childhood teacher and why?
A: Mrs. Viverka because she was kind and patient. (Kindergarten Teacher)

Q: Why do you love teaching?
A: I love teaching because of children. They are unlike adults in that they are untouched by life. They are honest, creative, and have bright dreams for their futures. They can be dancers, singers, president, or even Mickey Mouse if they wish to be. I want to be a part of making their dreams come true.

Q: Fill in the blank: If you really knew me, you'd know_____.
A: I am still a dreamer with quite an imagination.

Welcome Lauren!
